    Archdeacon's Farewell Sermon

"We are Anglican Christians in and around Sleaford. We seek to celebrate and proclaim God's presence in our communities and work with all people of good will in helping to bring about that fullness of being which is God's purpose for his creation, determined in the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ."

The deanery of Lafford is an ancient geopgraphical area of some 250 square miles of agricultural countryside to the south of Lincoln, on the edge of the Fens, in the east of England. There are 47 parish churches, almost all of significant historical interest. Of special interest is Sempringham Abbey, on the site of a medieval monastic community - which was joint abbey of men and women (living in separate quarters of course!) The market town of Sleaford is the only community of any appreciable size; there are a number of large villages but much open farmland with a few scattered dwellings.
